This comforting creamy tomato soup is super easy to make and only requires a few pantry staple ingredients. To make it even easier, ditch the grilled cheese for Furlani’s 3 Cheese Texas Toast. This is perfect for busy families.

Yields: 4 servings

Total time: 45 minutes


  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp EACH salt and pepper
  • 1 large can (28oz) whole tomatoes OR 4 cups tomato, diced
  • 2 cups broth (vegetable, chicken, or beef)
  • 1 bunch fresh basil to garnish
  • 1 box Furlani 3 cheese Texas toast


  1. Melt butter on medium heat in a large saucepan or Dutch oven.
  2. Add the onion, salt, and pepper and stir occasionally. Cook until the onions turn translucent, around 7-8 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic, tomatoes (with their juices), and broth of your choice to the pot. Turn the heat up to medium-high and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and let it simmer partially covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Use an immersion blender to blend the soup to your desired consistency.
  6. Pour into bowls and garnish with a few basil leaves.
  7. Use our 3 cheese Texas toast for dunking or cut into croutons and sprinkle on top!
