The mention of the word “Pizza” often brings to mind mouth-watering images of bread with tomato sauce, cheese, meat, vegetables and numerous toppings. It is widely accepted that its predecessor, what came before pizza that we present know, was the focaccia. The focaccia is known to the Romans as flatbread or panis focacius in which toppings were added that lead to the development of the modern pizza in Naples, Italy at the end of the 18th century.

Pizza was introduced in the United States accompanying the arrival of Italian immigrants in the late 19th century. It was quite popular in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Saint Louis and Chicago among the Italian populated areas. The popularity spread until pizza was featured in a television episode of the lovable, spinach-eating Popeye the Sailor.

To date, pizza is one of the most popular fast food items in restaurants, cafes, food outlets and especially in pizzerias across North America. Perfect for any time of day as a snack or meal, pizza can be bought fresh or frozen with a wide variety of ingredients and toppings. There’s no better feeling than eating a warm pizza during the cold, winter season.

Ingredients
Furlani Texas Toast Pizza
Pizza Sauce (Homemade or Store Bought)
Pepperoni Slices
Mozzarella Cheese (Grated)

 

Directions

Prepare Furlani Garlic Texas Toast Pizza slices as per packaging directions.

Let the toast sit and cool for 1 minute. Carefully spread the pizza sauce evenly on top of the toast slices.

Top the toast slices with grated mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices.

Bake the toast slices in the oven at 375°F (200°C) for 4-5 minutes or until cheese contents are melted.
